Knut Omang works for Oracle as part of the Linux and VM development group.
He is currently leading a project implementing continuous integration on targeted
parts of the Linux kernel. He has a Ph.D on high performance network
interfaces from 1998, in which he wrote his first driver. Since then
he has been working in industry with projects ranging from developing a
commercial search platform through unified communication and network issues
around realtime multimedia, back to writing a device driver for a new
Infiniband (RDMA) device in 2009. Throughout his work, he has always ended up with
roles that combines core development with writing, introducing and
improving developer tools. He also holds a part time Associate Professor
position at the University of Oslo, where he holds courses and supervises
master students. He has given presentations for larger audiences
regularly since 1993.
